The Central Minnesota Community Empowerment Organization, in collaboration with Hands Across the World, is offering “Conversational Somali and Introduction to Somali Culture”, a community education course designed to increase understanding of Somali language and culture. The course will take place at the Mary Center Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5–6 p.m., beginning September 27th and ending November 17th.
The 14-class course on Somali culture is open to anyone interested in learning about the Somali language and culture. Course participants will be taught by Abdi Mahad, coordinator of Community Education for the Central Minnesota Community Empowerment Organization. Content covered within the course includes an overview of Somali culture and important Somali words and phrases.
Course fees are $25 for low-income/students, $70 for individuals and $100 for businesses and organizations. Fees are due by the second course meeting on Thursday, September 29th.
