As of May 18, three ready-for-development areas in our St. Cloud region present a unique opportunity for private investment. These so-called Opportunity Zones give private investors a way to defer or entirely avoid capital gains taxes by directly or indirectly investing money in designated Opportunity Zones.
The U.S. Treasury officially designated three tracts, which are downtown St. Cloud (including the east side), the airport industrial park in Benton County and a segment of Sherburne County along the U.S. Highway 10 corridor, as Opportunity Zones.
