After thoughtful deliberation by the GSDC Board of Directors, action was taken to restructure the air service initiative by broadening the scope and taking a more comprehensive, integrated approach to regional transportation infrastructure advocacy.
The GSDC Transportation Corps has been formed to succeed the Air Service Corps. Brian Myres, CEO of Myres Consulting and GSDC board member, has agreed to lead and serve as chair of the Transportation Corps. Brian led the second phase marketing effort of the Air Service Initiative. He will work closely with GSDC President Patti Gartland, who also serves on the Metropolitan Airports Commission, in collaborating with various local, regional, state and federal partners in advancing the goals of the Transportation Corps.
The role of the Transportation Corps is to facilitate and advocate for expansion of a comprehensive regional transportation infrastructure system including road, rail, air, bus and trail.
Goals for 2015 include:
- Reinstitute and expand engagement by GSDC investors, advocates and partners in the restructured and newly formed Transportation Corps.
- Develop a prioritized scope of advocacy and appropriate GSDC role for regional transportation infrastructure needs and opportunities in the region.
- Assist in efforts to create and implement a Regional Airport Authority to more effectively enable growing utilization, impact and stewardship of the St. Cloud Regional Airport.
- Facilitate collaboration between and amongst stakeholders in advocating and advancing regional transportation infrastructure investments in the Greater St. Cloud Region.
