GSDC Selects Larry Hosch for Business Development Director Role

St. Cloud, MN, December 13, 2016 – The Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation (GSDC) announces its selection of Larry Hosch as Business Development Director.  Hosch succeeds Bill Kemp, who retires at the end of 2016.  Kemp has served the GSDC for nearly four years and has played an important role in its success to date.

Hosch joins GSDC after 20 years of contributing to the Greater St. Cloud region in local, regional and state government, local non-profits and private business.  For the past four years Hosch has managed the redesign and alignment of programs for the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Additionally, he is a member of the Minnesota Workforce Development Board, including its Executive Committee, equity taskforce and career pathways partnership initiative.  Hosch also serves on the Economic Development Authority for the City of St. Joseph.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and master’s degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis.

Prior to his tenure with the Department of Human Services, Hosch was elected mayor of St. Joseph in 2000 at the age of 22.  After serving two terms as mayor, Hosch was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives where he served four terms representing the Central Minnesota communities of Cold Spring, St. Joseph, Avon, Paynesville, Richmond and Kimball.  In 2005 Hosch founded and led Lamar Homes and Remodeling, LLC, a small business focused on real estate revitalization and exterior residential work.

Hosch commented, “I am excited to join the GSDC team and contribute the knowledge and experience I have gained from being a small business owner and participant in local and state government.  I want the very best for this community I call home, and look forward to contributing to our growing regional economy by supporting and assisting area businesses, and attracting new ones.”

GSDC President Patti Gartland commented, “We are excited to have someone with Larry’s passion and commitment to the Greater St. Cloud region and breadth of experience joining the GSDC team.”  GSDC Board Chair Bob White added,  "After interacting with Larry and hearing his story, I am highly confident he has the characteristics necessary to advance and accelerate the work of the GSDC."

Hosch will assume his new role on January 2, 2017.
