Talent Summit 2016 was held January 21st at River’s Edge Convention Center to a full capacity crowd of over 500 attendees! Approximately 250 job seekers, 200 employers and 50+ education partners came together to Discover, Learn, and Connect.
The goal for the day was to bring together local talent to connect with St. Cloud area employers to strengthen the greater St. Cloud community. The Summit kicked off with our employers engaging in an active discussion regarding Engaging our Culturally Diverse Workforce within our community.
Following, we welcomed the job seekers to the event with an engaging discussion on the importance of making the right first impression through LinkedIn presented by key note Anne Pryor, LinkedIn and Online Brand Strategist.
Rose McKinney from Pineapple RM delivered the lunch key note address highlighting the importance of Demonstrating your Personal Brand for Professional Success. The afternoon was filled with insightful interactive breakout sessions about a variety of key talent and workforce related topics. Each session provided takeaway materials for attendees to put to immediate use.
Following the breakout sessions, the Summit concluded with a Career Fair of over 50 employers networking with job seekers about opportunities at their place of business. The day concluded with Alumni/student Social Hour events sponsored by SCSU and CSB/SJU Alumni Associations.
Through the 125+ business retention and expansion visits conducted each year by GSDC, we know that the greatest challenge or issue of concern cited by employers in our region is TALENT; being able to attract, retain and develop the labor force needed for their business to thrive and grow. The GSDC Talent Summit was a successful effort in addressing those needs. Plans are already underway for next year’s event – mark your calendars today for Talent Summit 2017 on April 6, 2017!
