Dear Greater St Cloud Development Corporation Investors and Partners:
In my role as GSDC Board Chair and Transportation Corps Chair – and as community volunteer - I have had the opportunity to work with many of our county, city, school district, state and federal partners. In my experience the overwhelming majority of these officials are doing their very best to serve us well.
With all the turmoil in the world and divisiveness we see in Washington, D.C., it is great to see that the majority of our local elected officials understand the issues facing our community and the need to work together to make good things happen.
Some recent examples of this are the selection of the new interim Stearns County Sheriff, the support for the advancement of the St Cloud Regional Airport market study by Benton, Sherburne and Stearns county boards, the recent resolution by the St Cloud City Council affirming the city’s commitment to being a just and welcoming city, the support for STEM education in grades K -12 and at St Cloud State University and St. Cloud Technical and Community College, and the collaboration we see on an ongoing basis in business expansion and attraction activities.
The next time you see one of our local mayors, county commissioners, county administrators, city council members, city administrators, town board members, school board members, school superintendents or our state or federal legislative delegation or other public servants that are impacting economic development in a positive way, thank them for their service. They do make a difference.
Additionally, as elections approach, please encourage good people to run for office as it is essential that we continue to have good leaders in these positions.
Brian Myres, Board Chair, Greater St Cloud Development Corporation
