THERE’S A LOT GOING ON WITH LOCAL DEVELOPMENT

Whenever developers invest in new ventures, they are demonstrating their confidence in both a concept and a location. That’s great news for downtown St. Cloud and elsewhere in the region, because a lot of new office and hospitality development have been happening lately.

Last week, Bremer Bank opened its gleaming new building on the site of the former St Cloud City Hall. In the coming days, about 150 Midland Credit Management employees will begin working in newly-renovated space in the former Herberger’s building, providing a nice boost to downtown shops and restaurants.

Harvester Square and its Iron Street Distillery have been hosting wedding receptions and other events on St. Cloud’s east side for a few months now.

Developers are also creating fun new options for food and drink. The Blue Goose Speakeasy and Nautical Bowls recently opened in downtown St. Cloud, and Tequila Town will soon open there, too.

Also coming soon are Whit’s Craft, featuring St. Cloud’s first tap wall with around 40 Minnesota craft beers, seltzers and ciders, and The Boil, a Cajun and Creole restaurant.

This isn’t an all-inclusive list, but it’s an exciting one. We will cover other development in Benton, Sherburne and Stearns counties in future editions of Developing News.

THE REALITIES AND MYTHS OF GENERATIONAL STEREOTYPES

A recent podcast by McKinsey & Company titled “Making sense of generational stereotypes at work” explores thinking that is familiar but often inaccurate.

The podcast’s subhead sums it up: “Boomers to the left of you; Gen Z to the right. Are we really so bafflingly different?”

Of course, if you’re not accustomed to getting information from a podcast, you might be strengthening a stereotype!
