Earlier this month, the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation received a Bronze Excellence Award in Economic Development for our 2015 project in the category of Special Purpose Website (Greater St. Cloud JobSpot) from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The award was accepted at the 2015 IEDC Annual Conference held in Anchorage, Alaska.

Greater St. Cloud JobSpot’s commitment to growing the Greater St. Cloud community through attracting and retaining talent exemplifies the qualities of the IEDC’s award. Recipients of IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards honors organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities.

“From localized community projects to large scale endeavors, economic development efforts have played a vital role in the global economy,” said JoAnn Crary, CEcD, Chair of the International Economic Development Council and President of Saginaw Future Inc. “As we address new and longstanding challenges, these efforts continue to take on even greater importance. The award serves as a salute to pacesetting organizations like Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation for leading the charge.”

More than just a community job board, Greater St. Cloud JobSpot has led the charge in connecting talent inside the community with growing businesses. This past summer and continuing on into the fall, Greater St. Cloud JobSpot has offered Coffee & Careers events at Capital ONE as a way to give job seekers the opportunity to talk one-on-one with local hiring business and receive LinkedIn and resume review. These events will lead up to the 2016 Talent Summit on January 21st. The Talent Summit will feature breakout sessions for both job seekers and employers, keynote speakers, networking, and a career fair! has quickly become a main resource for job seekers looking to stay in the St. Cloud region. It is unique in the fact that all jobs posted on JobSpot are local jobs, limited to the three country region surrounding the St. Cloud area. Unlike other job boards, JobSpot allows employers to seek through over 1,600 uploaded resumes and profiles giving employers the opportunity to seek out their perfect candidate. Job seekers can easily create a profile and be found by local employers.

JobSpot will continue to grow partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and local leaders to expand our services and further support job-seekers, trailing spouses, workforce training, professional development, and career advancement.
